Congratulations, there are now 53 of us in this forest! 53 people interested in being ambassadors for Tree-Nation, in being our voice and the visible face of our drive to keep planting more trees together!

Our initial goal will be to define the brief and scope of this project, so that the ambassadors can get cracking and new members can get involved right away, allowing everyone to contribute to the cause in their own way and time and with their own ideas.

We invite you to read and comment on our first call to action. We await your feedback to improve this proposal and thus together build the ambassador project and take our commitment to fighting against climate change to a new level.

The project will be carried out on the basis of initiatives and proposals put forward by the members of the “Ambassador Forest”. Have an idea to help Tree-Nation development? Now is just the time to share it, explain it and make it a reality! That’s right: ambassadors will be able to set out their ideas for actions and projects, exchanging and discussing them with Tree-Nation and fellow ambassadors.

Ideas approved in the Ambassador Forest will take on lives of their own in a new forest, our super-tool for raising awareness of Tree-Nation and planting more trees. We suggest Ambassadors to gather by group of 5 to develop each project, and organise the different actions. The idea is that within no time Tree-Nation will be blossoming with interesting, useful and successful forests!

However, it won’t just be left to the ambassadors to put forward proposals. Tree-Nation will also be stimulating discussions by proposing ideas for actions that ambassadors can develop in their relevant forests.

The possible brief for ambassadors’ actions must allow for all sorts of involvements: whether attending conferences, helping us with technological development, representing Tree-Nation in their local area or region or simply promoting or taking care of an existing forest. And, naturally, every action embarked on by an ambassador will count as a Tree-Action. Therefore our ambassadors will be able to suggest their own Tree-Action and get them approved by Tree-Nation (in order to get free trees for the action). Ambassadors can therefore participate in defining what is best suited to developing the projects in question and helping Tree-Nation grow. This will enable us to together build a better form of social network through which big things can be accomplished to protect the environment.

Having discussed the action brief, all that’s left to do now is to define how to gain the status of an ambassador. It’s simple! Bearing in mind that at the bottom of it all what we’re all interested in is planting more and more trees, this status will be awarded when every forest created and cared for by a group of administrators has reached 1000 trees. And many of these trees will have been earned through carrying out and proposing Tree-Actions!

This is just the first stone of this project that we want to build together. We await your feedback on how to improve it, so that together we can actively contribute to planting more trees together!

Below you will find some examples of possible forests to be developed. Who’s in?

Examples of Forest/Projects we could handle:
- My country forest (in order to participate to or create local events)
- Climate changed explained to kids (story and illustrations to enhance youth concerns for our planet)
- My University forest (for students to spread the word on their campus)
- Tree-Pedia (a database of contents related to trees and reforestation topics created with the help of the scientific community)

GIRLSSS! WHERE'S YOUR POINT OF VIEW?
Hallo boys(and girls!)
'Scuola materna S.M.A.' Kindergarten forest. .. i like this concept, and the "consigli per il giardinaggio ai bambini" too, Ginko: is this what you mean for explein to kids? That's nice and usefull, it could be the right way also for climate change..
Seed and grow, what do you mean for "member guides to TN forests?

I'm in! I would like to start with growing regional support  which means starting with Munich, growing to  Bavaria, Germany. I would appreciate to link with other German supporters. What is the scope of such an activity (citizens, companies, officials?). Going into schools might be a good idea. Is there any experience gathered, material at hand?

Just a thought: if TN wants to achieve any form of grouping, then we need a serious discussion about TAGs, that can be added to the TN objects (members, forests, trees, plantations, species, discussions, images) to allow any member to search and find the content related to specific terms.

For example: the search does something similar as of today based on the NAME of a TN object only. Extending this will allow any grouping.

One way forward could be: ambassadors help to tag content in a systematic way. Members shall advocate for TAGs and ambassadors check them - otherwise we've got millions of tags and won't find anything, since we have no more than 5 objects per individual tag.

Another key element these days: the forest concept. This has been discussed already and I think it would help a lot to make up the plan at TN and ambassadors to create their interpretation of "member guides to TN forests" - this will help members to learn quickly in their language. "member guides to TN forests" - shall be a very personal explanation, how to find the forests of choice, how to make the best of it (including fun) and finally drive it from within the community rather from a centralised TN.

Finally: what about adding some trees here to demonstrate, that the ambassadors to not only talk but plant and water actually - just two-three trees a months and occasional watering. You know, what the impact is of being a role-model for the values we want to promote here.
Thank you Yorkie for the anwer!
I like the idea Salsadine suggested: regrouping several contents all togheter in one section!
Yes it's true some topic read here and there are really interesting!

 Hi Michela,

No I was thinking something more along the lines of a an email survey from TN to all members.
Hi Monica, Yorkie and Gincoleaf..
that's a grat mission what we are doing.. congratulation to Monica that engaged us and to everybody who'll do that!

First, i start asking something: represent Tree-Nation in our local area or region, what does it means? promoting is for sure easier. I'm quite new so I'll be asking a lot..
For me, My country forest sounds amazing, just: does it means create a Country forest like Italia forest etc. or Berlin forest. Ile de France forest etc.. ? In this case maybe the bigger they are, the easier it is, in number of planting and see planted lot's of tree.. but i'm not sure: it could be easier to create many more little forest named as regions or cities, referred to a further creation of events like "the day of.." or "the tree ...". What about?

But the amazing one, wich  I'd love to work in, is the Tree-Pedia project... I've found in this site lots of contents referred to forestation re-forestation and plants, it would be great  to see them all in one section. This could be the first act: re-collect all the existing ones and put them togheter!

and what about social forest? For example, with my girlfriend we were thinking about to create a forest with the boys of the " Centro minori non accompagnati Romagnano": yung people coming from africa/pakistan/afganistan without parents, who actually lives in a "center" waiting when tehy'll be 18 years old and free(not completly..) to move.. It would be nice for them, but also good to show and explain factive things thath it's possible do to fight for nature and a fair developpement in their own countries (in this case i'm thinking about Nigeria).

I hope this make sense..
a big hug,
Sal

Hi Monica and Yorkie!
I'll try to speak my mind as clear as possible...

I am interested in 'Climate changed explained to kids' that's an idea I had in my mind when I started 'Scuola materna S.M.A.' Kindergarten forest.
My thought it's to propose activities to be done in nature or little explanation about the importance of planting trees and taking care of nature, or also share a green attitude. (both for parents and children)
Our forest try to get a tree each child of my children's kindergarten, but there's no strait rules, anyone can join in and I want to change my mind many times in order to make it a joyful, openminded forest!
Recently with Kittehlady I thought the forest could become Kindergarten of the world!

From my point of view, what miss in this site it's a carbon calculator, it's hard to understand the weight of our everyday action towards planet...or maybe a calculator for flights which is one of the most polluting activity, maybe you could offer a special flight offset to make people aware about this polluting activity.

I propose a precise calculator...I visited some sites but I found them so unprecise, I mean that doesn't count the many eco-resolutions I am putting my efforts into lately.
A calculator has to consider each single little activity impact. (see many nice eco-resolutions you gathered for example!)
Sorry if I insisted on this topic..

Telling the truth, if I had to offset my year around emissions I should plant many many trees...I wouldn't like to water them all...
Trees I have here are gifts to remember special moments and for fun, I would like to have a special place where I plant trees needed to cover my emissions without being watered. Not sure if it's clear...I am not criticizing the watering idea, I love it!

Yorkie do you mean writing here and now, to start from the ambassador, telling the reason why we first joined?
We could do it straight away and wait for customers' survey later on...in case!

Bye, Michela

 Hi Monica.

Congratulations to your team in it's efforts to further improve this project. This is no easy task you set but of course we will do our best to help.

My initial thoughts are that it might be useful to have some idea from the existing membership as to how they Initially found TN and the reasons they joined. A short survey (yes I know they are a pain) may un-earth some useful information. I just think it's a good idea to really know our customers and what motivates them.

Also, how important is it to water trees? You currently approach a total of 400,000 trees, however if all trees were 'watered' this figure would be over 1million. Obviously you can't make people water them but I often wonder if there are any good reasons for watering other members abandoned trees (apart from the self satisfaction that comes with it). Presumably when you buy a tree you are factoring in the other 4 trees to follow but if it is never watered then that potential remains unlocked. Hope this makes sense.
