Baobabs are relatively easily grown from seed, and the seed can be collected from dry fruits by cracking the fruit open and washing away the dry and powdery coating. The seeds are bedst sown during spring and summer time. First, the seed should be soaked in a container of hot water, allowing it to cool, thereafter the seed can be sown after soaking for 24 hours. When planting the seed it should be covered with sand to a depth of 4-6mm, and placed in a warm semi-shaped place adding water until seeds have germinated (this may take from 2-6 weeks). When the seeds are aprox. 50 mm high they can be moved into individual containers.
