You certainly heard that CO2 emissions reach a record high in 2010. So answer this question:"When do you expect to give up using your car?!"

I have given up my car, i sold it last Monday to pay my rent.  I am not bothered in the slightest,  I would rather be chauffered around in buses and trains.  It's cheaper and better for the enviroment, public transport will always be there so may as well use it.  I feel free by getting rid it of it too..... :-)

My husband and i shipped our car when we moved but shortly after settling in my husband was hit by a driver in a van making an illegal turn off the highway! Thankfully my husband was not injured badly! Our car was completely wrecked and we made the decision not to replace it and have not owned a car since then!
p.s. We usually always took the subway and bus or streetcar to work and around the city before this accident.

Hybrids and electric cars are available but costly. Most likely as technology advances the costs will come down.
Subways should be encouraged, especially above ground to maintain the integrity of the environment.

Globally our dependence on fossil fuels must stop and to this end, it is our collective awareness and willingness to change that will reduce CO2 emissions.

Alternatives:  IEA special report explores potential for ‘golden age’ of natural gas
                         http://www.iea.org/press/pressdetail.asp?PRESS_REL_ID=415
IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka stated: “while natural gas is the ‘cleanest’ fossil fuel, it is still a fossil fuel. Its increased use could muscle out low-carbon fuels, such as renewables and nuclear – particularly in the wake of the incident at Fukushima and the likelihood of a reduced role for nuclear in some countries. An expansion of gas use alone is no panacea for climate change " .

The special report "Are We Entering a Golden Age of Gas?" can be downloaded free of charge on the World Energy Outlook website: http://www.worldenergyoutlook.org.The World Energy Outlook is the IEA’s flagship publication.

Probably after our public transportation in Jakarta is no longer a nightmare - and fortunately it have been getting better that I can reduce my driving days. So far, my resolution is to drive only 10 days max in a month.

Public transportation in Jakarta is notoriously bad, the biggest city without mass rapid transportation or subway. It has now one dedicated lane for subsidized, air-conditioned bus, but the number of vehicle is still far lower than its demand and poorly-managed.

On the earth day 2011, our company had an activity to makeover some bus-stops to make it more usable, together with the local government improving the system. Community-driven improvement might be the key to improve our public transportation system, and afterwards I can be more than happy to give up my car! :)

Even though I have a licence, I have never used it. I instead got a second hand bike, and use it to go to work, or walking. I will always try to live in a bike-friendly city, so I won't have to get any car!
Probably never.
But I have reduced driving considerably.
Earlier would drive 7 days a week. Now at best 3 days.

I haven't had a car for over 12 years. When I get one it will have to fly and I will use the force to power it.

I had a car but I decided to sell it a few years ago.
To be fair in Barcelona, which is quite a connected city, this is easy to live without a car. That makes me rent a car when I need one (i.e.: rarely!), and in the end, it is much cheaper, much healtier (I go to work by bike!) and also it forces you to use a car only when you really need one.
I think this is very important: each time one use your car, one should think: "do I really need to use it? can't I walk/bike use the metro this time?"

I agree with you JustLove: if you are thinking about buying a car and you can wait a bit, you might get a good price on an electric car.
